Need a credible, grounded voice in Health & Wellbeing?

I’m a former doctor turned health strategist, consultant and educator with nearly 20 years’ experience across medicine, nutrition, writing, digital health and NHS innovation. In past roles, I have had significant experience supporting and contributing to health content and expert comment for a range of national and international outlets. I'm used to working to tight deadlines, offering clear, no-nonsense perspective, and writing with warmth, accuracy and accessibility in mind.

My specific approach is focussed on making healthy simple again. I try to offer a breath of fresh air in our overwhelming world of bio-hacking, marketing hype and endless ‘optimisation’ - which all-too-often leaves us mere mortals feeling like we’re failing because it really is impossible to do it all.

Instead, I try to provide readers with a trustworthy, honest middle ground; where the importance of taking care of ourselves is recognised, but not to the detriment of the rest of our lives, bank balances, stress levels or time. I have also spent many years trying to untangle the complex nuances underlying our health (which are often rooted in the mostly overlooked social determinants of disease), exploring the context behind a story as much as the evidence for the story.

Not an influencer, nor an academic, I’m instead here to offer a refreshingly helpful mix of science, strategy and personal experience to help your story land.

I’m available for expert comment, editorial features, interviews, and health writing that cuts through the noise, especially on topics like:

Areas of Expertise

  • Evidence-based, practical wellbeing (especially for busy people in midlife, who care about their health but find the whole thing overwhelming).

  • Prevention in amongst the busyness and limitations of normal, everyday reality (not just in the Instagram-idealised version of it)

  • The challenges of behaviour change - and why it’s so hard; the hidden barriers to change that nobody talks about

  • The rise (and risk) of wellness trends and quick fixes; and why simple shifts often work better. My Wheel of Health framework explains it all.

  • Clinician wellbeing and culture inside the NHS

  • Designing digital health solutions that actually work; there’s a lot of hype (some of it well-placed), and what it means for the medicine of the future

  • The lost art of convalescence. Why recovery is the most overlooked area of health, and what to do about it.

  • Burnout, chronic illness, motherhood, and real-life health challenges; where to start, what to do, and how to get unstuck.

I believe deeply in health honesty.

What it takes to be healthy may be simple, but it is not easy. We’re all limited for time, money, energy, headspace, and the world is an increasingly overwhelming place. It’s not going to get easier anytime soon.

Let’s truly acknowledge this reality, instead of constantly pushing an aspirational ideal which leaves readers feeling like they’re somehow ‘failing’. No one needs yet another impossible standard.

We all need help to find a path we can actually walk.
